Universal measurement data acquisition for intelligent energy management

The powerful metering solution for intelligent energy management within SMA Smart Home: The SMA Energy Meter records electrical measured values with phase accuracy and netting, e.g. as a grid feed-in meter and grid consumption meter, and communicates them via Speedwire. Thanks to its fast, bidirectional measurement data acquisition, the SMA Energy Meter is the ideal data supplier for intelligent energy management within SMA Smart Home. This means that all data relating to PV generation, grid consumption, and grid feed-in can be transmitted via standard Ethernet cables, for example to Sunny Home Manager, Sunny Island, or in the future also to Sunny Boy Smart Energy. This in turn enables optimal energy monitoring, effective load and battery management, as well as reliable active power limitation at the grid connection point while taking self-consumption into account.

Important note: When using SMA Sunny Boy Smart Energy or SMA Tripower Smart Energy devices together with inverter(s) from other manufacturers, it is not possible to use an SMA Energy Meter as a generation meter in Home Manager. This limitation only applies to SMA Smart Energy devices.

-> Starting with firmware version 2.18.xx.R (release expected at the end of April 2026), Sunny Home Manager 2.0 can support the SMA Energy Meter as an additional PV generation meter in the ennexOS portal (version 1.31.7), which was previously not possible.

This allows Sunny Home Manager 2.0 to also integrate generators that are not able to communicate directly with Sunny Home Manager 2.0.
