These are the benefits of mini PV systems
Plug & Play
Cover your base load
Simply connect the modules and reduce your electricity costs.
For tenants, small PV systems are a great option that can be installed directly on the balcony or on a garage. The installation location should be chosen so the modules receive as much sunlight as possible throughout the year and there is no shading.
It’s also important that the electricity meter does not run backwards. This could happen if the PV system generates more electricity than the household is consuming at that moment. An electricity meter with backflow prevention can prevent this. The system should be reported to the energy supplier 2 weeks before connection. In most cases, the supplier will arrange a meter replacement if a suitable meter is not already installed.
Plug-in PV modules can simply be connected to a standard socket. The inverter is usually already mounted on the module or can be connected easily.
The legal situation for balcony power systems is currently not clearly defined and is being revised.
In Austria, simplified rules apply for systems up to 600 Wp, provided the system can be safely connected to a socket by the end user.
In Germany, the technical requirements of VDE-AR-N 4105 and DIN VDE 0100-551 must be observed. If these requirements are met and the electricity supplier still refuses to replace the meter to enable connection, it is legally permitted to change the metering point operator.
For more detailed information on the requirements and the current legal framework, please see the DGS flyer "Sun for Everyone!" in the sidebar, as well as jurop.org and pvplug.de
For “guerrilla” plug-in PV systems, there is usually no VAT or EEG levy charged. This means the system can be connected without additional costs and can reduce electricity costs over the long term.
Mini PV systems are ideal for covering your household’s base load during the day.
Renewable energy protects the environment. Even small PV systems are a step in the right direction—a step away from large power plants and toward clean, renewable energy.
According to a calculation by the German Society for Solar Energy (DGS), enough plug-in PV systems could be installed in Germany to replace a large lignite power plant.
Depending on the mounting structure, different installation materials are required.
For mounting on a balcony, suitable aluminum brackets or rails from a DIY store can be used.
For mounting on flat roofs, for example, plastic mounting trays can be used. These are simply weighted down with concrete blocks or gravel, and the modules are screwed on directly.
For pitched-roof installation, roof hooks and mounting rails are required. We’ll be happy to provide a quote including the mounting hardware.
